The Rochelle Area Track Club competed in the 2019 USATF Illinois State Junior Olympic Championships at Benedictine University this past weekend. Five RATC athletes earned top-8 placements and have qualified for the Region 7 Championships at Joliet Memorial Stadium from July 11-14.

LISLE — The Rochelle Area Track Club competed in the 2019 USATF Illinois State Junior Olympic Championships at Benedictine University this past weekend. Five RATC athletes earned top-8 placements and have qualified for the Region 7 Championships at Joliet Memorial Stadium from July 11-14.

Trevor Goodwin finished fifth in the 17-18 boys triple jump competition with a distance of 12.89 meters, while Zachary Dreska placed fourth in the 11-12 boys javelin throw with a toss of 18.98 meters. Dreska also advanced in the discus throw, taking fifth with a mark of 13.68 meters.

Ashyley Dwyer finished seventh in the 13-14 girls javelin throw with a toss of 10.32 meters and eighth in the discus throw with a mark of 8.50 meters. Jacob Nations took sixth in the 17-18 boys high jump with a height of 1.65 meters and Margaret Carter finished sixth in the 11-12 girls long jump with a distance of 4.22 meters.

Carter placed ninth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.28 seconds, and Zoe White finished 12th in the 13-14 girls 800-meter run with a time of 3:00.25 and 19th in the long jump with a distance of 2.76 meters. Luis Pizano took 13th in the 13-14 boys 800-meter run with a time of 3:04.93.
