Lady Hubs finish fifth, Hubs take seventh

The Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub track and field teams competed at the Byron Indoor Preview on Saturday. The Lady Hubs finished fifth out of eight schools with 40 points and the Hubs took seventh out of 11 schools with 32 points. Rochelle’s next coed track and field meet will be the Sterling Invitational at the Westwood Sports Center on Saturday, March 19. The Hubs will also compete at the Gary Egler Invitational in Sycamore on Wednesday, March 16.

BYRON — The Rochelle Hub and Lady Hub track and field teams competed at the Byron Indoor Preview on Saturday. The Lady Hubs finished fifth out of eight schools with 40 points and the Hubs took seventh out of 11 schools with 32 points. Rochelle’s next coed track and field meet will be the Sterling Invitational at the Westwood Sports Center on Saturday, March 19. The Hubs will also compete at the Gary Egler Invitational in Sycamore on Wednesday, March 16.

Girls

Senior Teagan Meyers set a new personal record in the high jump, winning the event with a clearance of 1.57 meters. Meyers also took third in the triple jump with a distance of 9.30 meters, while sophomore Alivia Henkel finished fourth in the pole vault with a height of 2.21 meters. Junior Baylie Sutton placed fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 8.12 meters.

Rochelle runners Bridgett Ramirez, McKenna Cook, Zoe White and Sara Johnson finished fifth in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 13:14.21. The Lady Hubs placed eighth in the 800-meter relay, clocking in at 2:05.61 behind Kylie Smith, Rylee Jackson, Alex Neece and Macy Ramos. Neece took fifth in the 55-meter hurdles with a personal-record time of 11.44 seconds.

Henkel finished sixth in the 55-meter dash with a time of 8.01 and White placed ninth in the 800-meter run with a time of 3:05.01. Meyers and Smith took sixth and seventh in the 400-meter dash with times of 1:08.57 and 1:09.27. Ortiz finished fourth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:23.51 and Meyers placed fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.06. White, Ortiz, Kennedy Adamski and Johnson took seventh in the 1600-meter relay at 5:19.55.

Boys

Senior Zach Sanford finished second in the shot put with a new personal-record distance of 14.32 meters. Senior Ryan Simmons took second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.78 meters, while sophomore Nathan Sergeant finished fourth with a clearance of 1.57 meters. Seniors Luke and Max Orlikowski led the Hubs in the jump pits, with Max finishing eighth in the long jump (5.15 meters) and Luke taking fifth in the triple jump (10.59 meters) for Rochelle.

Rochelle runners Hayden Smith, Alexavier Villatoro, Jackson Smith and Troy Papke teamed up to finish fourth in the 3200-meter relay with a time of 11:15.70. The Hubs placed fifth in the 800-meter relay, clocking in at 1:43.61 behind Irving Escalante, Trey Taft, Ethan Wells and Griffin Ohlinger. Junior Hayden Inman took sixth in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 10.67 seconds and senior Michael Ramsey finished ninth in the 55-meter dash at 7.24 seconds.

Junior Wade Smith and freshman Christopher Hickey placed 10th and 11th in the 800-meter run with respective times of 2:43.31 and 2:43.41. Sophomores Caleb Wyssbord and Eli Luxton finished sixth and seventh in the 400-meter dash with respective times of 1:00.94 and 1:02.62. Sophomore Alex Burke took 10th in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:45.00. Wyssbrod, Jackson Smith, Wade Smith and Escalante finished sixth in the 1600-meter relay at 4:10.51.
