ROCHELLE — No one suffered serious injuries Friday afternoon after a truck struck a utility pole on Illinois Route 251 in Hillcrest.

According to reports, the accident occured around 2:45 p.m. when a pick up truck traveling northbound left Illinois Route 251 near Hemstock Road, struck culvert and then crashed into a utility pole. The pole then fell into the roadway.

Sparks then caught brush in the ditch on fire, burning approximately 50 yards of grass before firefighters from Rochelle and Hillcrest arrived on scene.

RMU was called to the scene to cut power to the downed pole and restore power to the area of Hillcrest affected by the accident.
