Two residents transported to hospital after Gurler Road fire

ROCHELLE — Two residents were transported to the hospital after a Tuesday morning structure fire at 2965 E. Gurler Rd., Rochelle Fire Department Lt. Jason Underwood said.

Underwood declined to say what the extent of the residents’ injuries were. Rochelle Fire and all Ogle-Lee Fire Protection District departments were called to the fire at 6:51 a.m. for a fully-engulfed structure and the first on the scene arrived five minutes later.

Upon arrival, first responders found a fully-involved structure fire of a “trailer home with a structure around it” behind the house on the property, Underwood said. The fire was extinguished, and fire personnel were on scene until 9:17 a.m. A propane tank was on the property, but it was a safe distance from the fire and protected and disconnected, Underwood said.

Underwood said the building was a total loss and estimated $50,000 worth of damage from the fire. There were also a couple of vehicles in the building, but Underwood said he was unsure about their value. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
