VIEWPOINT: Senior Center gearing up for busy July

Posted

We’re in full swing down here at the Hub City Senior Center and are gearing up for another fun-filled July.
Our senior prom and luau was once again a great success. We crowned our 2019 King and Queen: Dale and Ginnie Christopherson and our Prince and Princess are Terry & Janet Mitchell. We had such a fun evening. The food was delicious and the music delightful.
Thanks to all donations we were able to raise over $2,000. We will most likely put this money toward our bathroom remodel. What a blessing you all are. A special thank you to Dub Lambert and Nancy Brown, our 2018 king and queen. You represented us so well and we are very appreciative.
As I mentioned, plans are well underway for the bathrooms off our main room to be updated and remodeled. This has been a long time coming. This will be funded mainly from memorial monies received. Hopefully this project will be completed soon. I’ll keep you updated.
July Movie Day will be held Friday, July 12 at 12:15 p.m. For your viewing pleasure we are featuring “Yankee Doodle Dandy.” We are serving popcorn, soda pop, candy, and homemade banana splits.

On Wednesday, July 17 we will have our July birthday party and picnic at the senior center. My husband, Ken, will be grilling delicious hamburgers for us, Karen will make her famous 7-layer salad and I’ll make potato salad. We’ll also serve watermelon and have lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, etc. for our burgers. Birthday cupcakes will be served as well. Those celebrating their birthdays in July include Ann Andersen, Richard Andrist, Wanda Austin, Barb Bearrows, Lanore Berberich, Grace Berner, Nancy Brown, William Bosecker, Myrtle Bradle, Pat Casey, Zeke Chapman, Rosie Clue, Barbara Cox, Ruth Dalton, me, Ana Espinal, Dale Galland, Barbara Goman, Harold Gosse, Nancy Govig, Lois Hahne, Violet Hall, Allan Hann, Kathy Hardesty, Helen Henert, Tom Hill, Lois Jaeger, Marilyn Johnson, Jack Kerns, Debbie Kersten, Bette Kyler, Dana LaTour, Lewis Lazarus, Karen Lee, Linda Lewis, Sandy Mace, Jeanne May, Karen McCandless, Carol Middaugh, Terry Moore, JoAnn Orr, Kathy Roberson, Ben Rogers, Dan Russell, Brenda Smith, Margaret Smith, Imogene Stoneking, Gayle Sweger, Marvin Sweger, Maria Tapia, Mary Jane Thielemann, Dale Vogeler, Lisa Werstine, and Corky Wetzel.

Stop in at the Hub City Senior Center and play pool with us. We have a wonderful group of guys who show up at 7 a.m. with more guys trickling in throughout the morning. They have a great time and many of them join us for lunch, too.
