ROCKTON — The Rochelle Wrestling Club sent 27 competitors to the Hononegah Kids Classic on Sunday, Dec. 15. Nearly half of the grapplers brought home first-place finishes, with the bantams notching five titles and the novices winning four titles.
Four wrestlers battled in the Tots Division including Felix Belmonte, who went 2-1 to place second in his bracket. Nehemiah Andronic (1-2) and Lennox Ordaz (1-2) both took third while Phinehas Nadig finished fourth.
Nine Bantam Division grapplers competed, with Quentin Ansteth (3-0), Dominic Escatel (3-0), Landon Johnson (3-0), Elijah Nadig (3-0) and Emilyn Voight (3-0) all taking first place in their respective brackets. Quaid Heitz (1-2), Lindzi Kirk (1-2) and Gavin Smith (1-2) each placed third, while Misha Krawcewicz took fourth.
Three kids participated in the Intermediate Division on Sunday. Zachary Johnson (3-0) and Aidan Lopez (3-0) both won first-place titles in their respective brackets, while Montana Contreras (1-2) placed third.
Seven Novice Division wrestlers signed up for Sunday’s event, with Fernando Bautista (3-0), Brandin Kirk (3-0), Tony Milburn (3-0) and Benjamin Nadig (3-0) all taking home first-place titles in their respective brackets. Bobby Tourdot (2-1), Brenden Voight (2-1) and Boone Alderks (2-1) each finished second in the event.
Kaiden Morris (3-0) took first place in his bracket to lead the four Senior Division competitors. Xavier Villalobos (2-1) and Grant Gensler (2-1) both placed second while Joseph Nadig (1-2) took third place.
