The Rochelle Hub wrestling team crowned three champions during the Rockford East Nunez-West JV Invitational on Friday afternoon. Rochelle, who finished fifth out of 28 schools with 91.5 points, added one third-place finisher and one fourth-place finisher.

ROCKFORD — The Rochelle Hub wrestling team crowned three champions during the Rockford East Nunez-West JV Invitational on Friday afternoon. Rochelle, who finished fifth out of 28 schools with 91.5 points, added one third-place finisher and one fourth-place finisher.
Sophomore Hadley Losoya (4-0) took first in the 144-point weight division. Losoya scored a 10-3 decision over Rockford East’s Cristo Martinez before reaching the semifinals with a win by injury default over Antioch’s Alexander Aguirre. Losoya clinched the title with a fall over St. Charles North’s Landon Tellez and a 4-2 decision over Joliet Central’s Caleb Dennis.
Sophomore Jayden Pelayo (5-0) took first in the 150-pound ‘B’ weight division. Pelayo earned three wins by fall in the tournament, defeating Freeport’s Alex Piper as well as Loyola Academy’s Evan Clancy and Marian Central Catholic’s Logan Jackabowiscz.
Senior Matthew Lynn (5-0) took first in the 175-pound weight division. Lynn won by fall over Antioch’s Frank Rano before scoring a 10-0 major decision against Dixon’s Blake Dingley to reach the semifinals. Lynn earned the title with a fall over Lincoln Academy’s Dawson Vanfleet and a 22-5 technical fall against Huntley’s Gage Wilson in the championship bout.
Sophomore Chris O’Neill (4-2) placed third in the 175-pound weight division. O’Neill won three bouts in the tournament, securing falls over Rockford East’s Damion Stevenson and Yorkville Christian’s Kenny Fox before earning a forfeit from Dawson Vanfleet in the third-place bout.
Sophomore Angel Hernandez (3-2) finished fourth in the 157-pound weight division. Hernandez earned two victories in the tournament, beating Grayslake Central’s Johnny Lopez by 20-4 technical fall before taking down Hononegah’s Alec Martin in a 16-1 technical fall.
Freshman Damion Anders (5-2) took sixth in the 132-pound weight division. Anders won three matches in the tournament, notching falls over Hononegah’s Dominic LaMont and Johnsburg’s Micah Klos before earning a 12-5 decision against Lincoln Academy’s Deputie Douglas.
Sophomore Tyler Etes (2-3) won two matches in the 165-pound weight division. Sophomores Brandin Kirk (2-2), Adam Cobos (1-4) and freshman Andrew Eyster (1-2) each won one match in their respective weight divisions. Eighteen wrestlers represented Rochelle in the tournament.
