The Rochelle Hub varsity wrestling team battled Oregon and Lena-Winslow/Stockton in a nonconference triangular meet on Tuesday. Rochelle defeated Oregon 60-24 and fell 49-24 against Lena-Winslow/Stockton to move to 4-2 overall this season.

OREGON — The Rochelle Hub varsity wrestling team battled Oregon and Lena-Winslow/Stockton in a nonconference triangular meet on Tuesday. Rochelle defeated Oregon 60-24 and fell 49-24 against Lena-Winslow/Stockton to move to 4-2 overall this season.

Sophomore Tommy Tourdot received a forfeit in the 106-pound bout before freshman Xavier Villalobos faced Noah Draeger in the 113-pound bout, scoring two takedowns and recording a pin to put the Hubs ahead 12-0. Freshman Joseph Nadig followed with another pin to win the 120-pound bout, but the PantherHawks answered with a 14-5 major decision in the 126-pound bout. Lena-Winslow/Stockton’s Carson McPeek then took the 132-pound bout by technical fall.

Zach White and Garrett Luke scored the next two wins for Lena-Winslow/Stockton, with White pinning for the 138-pound bout victory and Luke outlasting Rochelle freshman Grant Gensler for a 13-4 major decision in the 145-pound bout. Senior Caleb Nadig brought the Hubs back in the 152-pound bout, totaling four takedowns to defeat Jared Dvorak by 10-3 decision.

Trailing 21-19, Lena-Winslow/Stockton surged ahead after Marey Roby and Griffin Luke scored pins to win the 160-pound and 170-pound bouts. The PantherHawks followed with two more pins in the 182-pound and 195-pound bouts to take a 43-21 lead before Rochelle freshman Kaiden Morris recorded two takedowns and a reversal to beat Henry Engel by 6-2 decision in the 220-pound bout. The PantherHawks pinned to win the 285-pound bout and seal the match.

Oregon

Sophomore Tommy Tourdot and freshman Xavier Villalobos each collected forfeits in the 106-pound and 113-pound bouts. Freshman Joseph Nadig extended Rochelle’s lead to 18-0 in the 120-pound bout, taking down and pinning Preston LaBay before junior Weldon Nay took down and pinned Ethan Mowry in the 126-pound bout to give the Hubs a 24-0 advantage.

Oregon’s Lane Halverson and Jared Glendenning both recorded pins to win the 132-pound and 138-pound bouts for the Hawks. Leading 24-12, Rochelle scored six more points when freshman Grant Gensler pinned Jackson Glendenning in the third period of the 145-pound bout. Senior Caleb Nadig took down and notched two near-falls against Zander VandeSand before pinning to win the 152-pound bout. Gabe Eckerd pinned to win the 160-pound bout for Oregon.

Sophomore Brock Metzger reversed and pinned Austin Peterson to win the 170-pound bout before freshman Jack Pavlak stepped up in the 182-pound bout, taking down and pinning Landen Elder for his first varsity victory. Oregon’s Seth Rote pinned to win the 195-pound bout, but the Hubs scored the final two victories, with freshman Kaiden Morris earning a forfeit in the 220-pound bout and junior Jaden Cook pinning Briggs Sellers in the 285-pound bout.
