DEKALB — Multiple Rochelle-area wrestlers were on the mat for the 2025 Illinois Freestyle State Championships at DeKalb High School on May 4.
Among the athletes competing were Nehemiah Andronic, Elias Andronic and Raya Windham, who all earned state championships representing the Forge Wrestling Club. With his state title, Elias Andronic clinched a triple crown as a state champion in IKWF as well as USA Wrestling freestyle and greco events.
Nehemiah Andronic went 4-0 in the Boys 10U 84 Division to earn his state championship. Andronic scored 10-0 technical falls over Will County’s Max Casillas and Lemont’s Tyler Wirth before outlasting Toss Em Up’s Alex Cid for a 10-7 decision. Andronic clinched his state title with a fall over Lake Zurich Cubs Wrestling Club’s Declan Potempa at the 1:08 mark.
Elias Andronic won the Boys 8U 62 Division championship with a 4-0 record. Andronic scored a 12-1 technical fall over Tiger Town’s Kye Dauber and PSF Wrestling’s Jaxon St. Angelo before earning an 11-0 technical fall over Fox Lake’s Corbin Spiniolas. Andronic sealed his triple crown and his freestyle state championship with a fall over Fit & Fight Gym’s Skilur Arkaev at 1:12.
Non-placing wrestlers representing Forge and the Rochelle area were Grant Cole (Boys 12U 82 Division), Teddy Millard (Boys 14U 80 Division), Hadley Losoya (Boys 16U 138 Division), Brandin Kirk (Boys 16U 165 Division), Tyler Etes (Boys 16U 175 Division) and Jacksyn Windham (Boys 16U 215 Division).
