STILLMAN VALLEY — The Rochelle Wrestling Club sent 18 athletes to the 2025 Stillman Valley Beginners Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Stillman Valley High School, where the club crowned five individual champions, one runner-up finisher and six third-place finishers.
Amos Andronic finished first in the Tots 40-42 Division with a 3-0 record, notching falls over Alber Athletics wrestler Jameson Schlemmer and Belvidere Bandits wrestler Theodore VanAcker before scoring a 15-0 technical fall over North Boone’s Dillon Garcia. Ty Johnson finished first in the Bantam 37-43 Division with a 4-0 record, earning a 17-0 technical fall over Stillman Valley’s Grayson Grugel in addition to three consecutive falls over Rockford’s Osgar Perone, Stockton Renegades WC’s Wade Feltmeyer and Stillman Valley’s Soiyr Gorsegner.
Isaiah Harper finished first in the Bantam 43-45 Division with a 3-0 record, securing a 10-7 decision over Rockford’s James Brenner as well as a fall over Tony Capriola WC’s Steven Hardt Jr. and a medical forfeit over Belvidere’s Dominick Petty. Raya Windham finished first in the Intermediate 105-108 Division with a 3-0 record, stringing together three straight falls over Cogs WC’s Marc Mota Jr., Sauk Valley Wrestling’s Royce Olvera and Clippers WC’s Easton Hambly.
Gavin Smith finished first in the Novice 95-107 Division with a 3-0 record, earning three straight falls over Marengo Youth WC’s Angel Lopez, Cogs WC’s Cooper Marola and Belvidere Bandits wrestler Gavyn Diskin. Adam Bukovsky took second in the Bantam 71-73 Division with a 1-1 record, scoring a 13-5 major decision against Belvidere Bandits wrestler Elijah Mena.
Theo Adolph placed third in the Tots 39-40 Division with a 1-2 record, notching a fall against Hononegah Wrestling Club’s Adrian Montiel. Theo Vogeler placed third in the Tots 51-52 Division with a 1-2 record, securing a 16-12 decision over Marengo Youth Wrestling Club’s Rhett Koelm. Theo Putzstuck placed third in the Bantam 44-48 Division with a 1-2 record, opening the tournament with a fall against Hononegah Wrestling Club’s Lucas Misiaszek.
Bentley Bennett placed third in the Intermediate 65-67 Division with a 1-2 record, earning a fall over Dixon Wrestling Club’s Lydia Peterson. Mason Johnson placed third in the Intermediate 67-71 Division with a 1-2 record, holding on for a 6-4 decision over Sauk Valley’s Henry Hartman. Matthew Johnson Jr. placed third in the Novice 120-128 Division with a 3-1 record, posting a 16-0 technical fall over Red Raiders WC’s Everett Gustafson as well as falls over Cogs Wrestling Club’s Lucas Bentley and Xtreme Wrestling’s Wyatt Trosper-Black.
Fourth-place finishers were Romeo Hernandez (Tots 53-52), Enrique Mota (Bantam 56-58), James Williams (Bantam 44-46), Oliver Stolte (Bantam 49-50), Cheyanne McBride (Intermediate 64-65) and Freddie McBride (Novice 82-87).
