PEORIA — The Rochelle Wrestling Club made history at the Peoria Civic Center on Friday and Saturday, when four athletes brought home medalist honors during the 2025 IKWF State Championship, tying a program record. Raya Windham and Elias Andronic finished atop the podium as state champions, with Windham winning the first girls state title in program history.

Windham finished first in the Girls Bantam 115 Division with a 3-0 record. Windham’s state title run started in the quarterfinals, where she needed only 28 seconds to record a fall over MadDog Wrestling Academy’s Stella Floreani. Windham then dominated her semifinal match, using just 17 seconds to take down and pin Warrensburg-Latham Jr. Cardinals wrestler Charlotte Mathias.

Windham clinched the RWC’s first IKWF state championship in girls wrestling with a hard-fought win over BTS-Chicago-Tri Taylor’s Libby Gagen in the final round. Windham took a 3-0 lead with a first-period takedown, but Gagen answered back with a takedown in the second period. The match went into tiebreakers, where a penalty point for Windham resulted in a 4-3 victory.

Elias Andronic finished first in the Boys Bantam 62 Division with a 4-0 record. Andronic scored a 19-1 technical fall over PSF Wrestling Academy’s Simon Nice in the second round before a fall over Assumption Elite’s Abel Bochmann in the quarterfinals put Andronic two wins away from a state title. Seeking his first IKWF bantam state title, Andronic snatched a 7-0 decision against Wildcats Wrestling Academy’s Kingston Dean to clinch his spot in the championship round.

Andronic squared off against Crystal Lake Wizards wrestler Brock Kirschke for the title. Leading 5-0 after a first-period takedown and a second-period reversal, Andronic saw his advantage disappear after a takedown and three-point near fall for Kirschke midway through the third period. Unfazed, Andronic avoided defeat with a successful maneuver late in the third period, scoring six points on a reversal and a four-point near fall to win the match by 11-6 decision.

Nehemiah Andronic took fifth in the Boys Intermediate 79 Division, finishing with a 4-2 record over six matches. Andronic’s tournament started in the second round, where the former IKWF bantam state champion secured a 4-3 decision over Lake Zurich Cubs Wrestling Club’s Lyndon Abrantes. After a quarterfinal-round loss, Andronic bounced back with back-to-back pins against Dakota Wrestling Club’s Zander Graika and SCN Youth Wrestling Club’s Wesley Norman.

A loss in the semifinal wrestlebacks moved Andronic into the fifth-place bout, where the RWC standout snagged a takedown and two near falls for an 11-0 major decision over PSF Wrestling Academy’s Sloan Sears. After a scoreless first period, Andronic took control with a takedown and near fall in the second period. Andronic added a third-period near fall to seal his win.

Benjamin Morris placed seventh in the Boys Senior 164 Division, finishing with a 3-2 record over five matches. Morris turned in an outstanding run through the consolation rounds, overcoming a second-round loss with pins against Force Elite’s Muzaffar Mamurjonov and Decatur Dawgs wrestler Carter Force over the third and fourth-round wrestlebacks. A fifth-round defeat moved Morris into the seventh-place match, where a takedown led to a 16-13 sudden victory over Dinamo Wrestling’s Turner Liss. Morris scored three takedowns in the match to seal his win.

Chase Marruffo wrestled two matches in the Boys Intermediate 90 Division, while Teddy Millard competed in the Boys Novice 80 Division to round out the RWC’s state qualifiers this season.
