DEKALB — Charles R. Long, 51, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb. Charles was born on Oct. 15, 1969 to Raymond and Phyllis (Bouland) Long in Rochelle.

Charles was a fun-loving, special person who loved his family more than anything. He never met a stranger that didn’t become a friend after he was done talking with them.

He had an incredible smile and laughter that would light up a room. A special person has been lost, but his pain is now gone; he won’t hurt anymore.

He was able to help and save other lives by being an organ donor.

He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Long; paternal grandparents, Emmett and Ruth Long; maternal grandparents, Cleo and Evis Bouland; uncles, Ronnie and Danny Tim Bouland; and aunt, Diane Bouland.

Charles is survived by his mother, Phyllis (Richard) Grasty; two brothers, Rich Grasty and Daryl (Tami) Long; three stepsiblings, Chuck Grasty, Tina (Jeff) Moran and Teresa (Edwin) Smith; aunts, Linda (Del Jr.) Windland, Kay Bouland, Melody Bouland and Lydia Bouland; uncles, Steve Bouland and Phil (Roxanne) Bouland; three nieces, Joy Lynn Grasty, Faith Grasty and Megan Moran; five nephews, Richard Grasty, Jackson Grasty, Kramer Grasty, Brodie Long and Justin Hundly; and his loving little dog, Faith, that was everything to him.

The private family funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, April 26 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle, with Pastor Chad Hall officiating.

The service will be live streamed on the Unger-Horner Funeral Home Facebook page.
