CHANA — Cheryl “Sherri” Ankney, 65, of Chana, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017 at Serenity Hospice Home in Oregon.
Sherri was born June 5, 1951 in Monmouth, the daughter of Robert and Theresa Cokel. She married Al Ankney in Chana.
Sherri was employed as a district librarian for Rochelle Elementary District #231 for 18 years.
She loved children, the outdoors, reading, music and animals.
Sherri was preceded by her parents, Robert and Theresa Cokel and a son, Charles Tilton.
She is survived by her husband, Al, of Chana; a son, Justin (Randi) Ankney of Rochelle; sisters, Mary (Jan) Fee of Rochelle, Rose (Rowland) Klinefelter of Mendota, and Cindy (Tim) Farmer of LaMoille; a brother, Bob (Trish) Cokel of Springfield, Ore.; grandchildren, Jazmin Stanfa of Rochelle, Abi Tilton of Rochelle, and Leo Ankney of Rochelle; great-grandchildren, Gwenyth Stanfa of Rochelle and Raven Tilton of Rochelle; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cremation rites have been accorded. The family suggests memorials to Serenity Hospice and Home, 1658 S. IL Route 2, Oregon, IL 61061 in Sherri’s name.
The family would also like to thank family, friends and the staff at Serenity Hospice and Home for Sherri’s care.
