ROCHELLE — Gail Anne Rogers, 59, passed away Monday, Feb. 11, 2019 at her home. Gail was born on Sept. 26, 1959 to Kenneth and Muriel (Pagel) Nelson in Mankato, Minnesota. She married Mark Rogers on Aug. 21, 1982 in Excelsior, Minnesota.  

Gail graduated from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, where she met many of her lifelong friends. 

She was the neighborhood mom, babysitting for teachers and neighbors for over 13 years. After her youngest went to kindergarten, Gail worked for District 231 in various positions for 21 years. 

Gail enjoyed watching her daughters, and eventually granddaughters, play soccer. She enjoyed everything outdoors, especially hiking, the mountains, and searching for seashell treasures on the beach. Her greatest treasure was her family. Gail was a very active and faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Rochelle where she served on numerous committees. 

Gail is survived by her husband of 36 years, Mark Rogers, of Rochelle; four daughters, Jessica Rogers of Rochelle, Tara (Mike) Schmitt of Janesville, Wisconsin, Danica Rogers of Rochelle and Mikaela (Mitch) Comstock of Milton, Wisconsin;  three grandchildren, Alexa, Karsen and Hattie Schmitt; her mother, Muriel Nelson of Minnetonka, Minnesota; two sisters, Susan Voorhees of Dallas, Texas, and Lynn (Brent) Weis of Champlin, Minnesota; father-in-law, Benny Rogers; four brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, Benny (Mary) Rogers, Bart (Connie) Rogers, Michael (Becky) Rogers, Michele (Albert) Gittleson, and Matthew Rogers all of the Rochelle area; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

Gail is preceded in death by her father, Kenneth Nelson; mother-in-law, Donna Rogers; and a dear family friend, Paul Scheer. 

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle.  The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Faith Lutheran Church, 14206 E. Flagg Rd., Rochelle, with Pastor Joy Alsop officiating. Additional visitation will be prior to the service from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.  Cremation care will be provided after the service.
