CHANA — Geneve Hepfer of Chana, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, died peacefully June 3, 2017 at Rochelle Community Hospital with her family at her side. She had a massive stroke one day before.
Geneve was born on Aug. 17, 1920 near Chana, the daughter of Osa and Mabel (Dailey) DeLair. She graduated from Oregon High School in 1938 and married Joseph Hepfer Sept. 24, 1938. He died Oct. 4, 1999 after 61 years of marriage.
Geneve was a homemaker and operated her family farm. She loved to crochet, sew, cook, and garden. She was a Christian. She was very devoted to her family and they will miss her very much.
She is survived by her daughters, Colleen Hepfer of Rockford and Roma Kotcher (husband, Oscar Prestinary) of Lake Barrington; granddaughters, Anne Bucy (Justin) and Missy Mazza both of Barrington, five great-grandchildren, Jake Bucy, Wyatt Bucy, Chloe Bucy, Tony Mazza and Joey Mazza; and two step-granddaughters, Susana Prestinary and Viviana Prestinary.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Private graveside services will be at Lighthouse Cemetery.
