ROCHELLE — Senior Anahi Alanis fired five strikes over her final five frames as the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity bowling team looked to close out its Interstate 8 series with Morris on Monday.

Alanis rolled a series-best 184 during her third and final game, helping the Lady Hubs clinch a 2,616-2,075 sweep of the Redskins at T-Byrd Lanes. It’s the second win of the new year for the Lady Hubs (6-4, 4-3 Interstate 8) who defeated Streator on the road this past Thursday night. Rochelle will return to the lanes on Wednesday, when the Lady Hubs will host Belvidere.

“I love the fact that we’ve become more friendly with each other,” Alanis said. “We became friends with each other pretty easily and even when we had a bunch of freshmen come in, we kept that dynamic. I’ve definitely enjoyed our season and we’ve improved a lot since last year. We’ve become a lot more consistent and we all want to make it to sectionals again.”

Rochelle started the series with an 873-719 win in the first game, where junior Cassidy Vincent fired a series-best 205 and senior Kenzie Liezert rolled a series-best 167 to lead the Lady Hubs. Rochelle extended its series lead in the second game, where the Lady Hubs cruised over Morris 854-696 behind a 181 from Vincent and a series-best 175 from sophomore Kylie McCullough.

The Lady Hubs clinched their conference sweep with an 889-660 win in the third and final game of the evening. Alanis bowled a 184 to finish the match with a 457 series, while Vincent bowed out with a 166 to conclude her evening with a team-high 552 series. McCullough recorded a 462 series and Liezert finished with a 442 series after shooting a 142 in the third and final game, where Madison Yurkovich totaled a series-best 162 to record a team-best 418 series for Morris.
