BYRON – Joyce Elaine Bennett, age 74, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021 at the Generations at Neighbor’s Rehabilitation Center in Byron. She was born Sept. 9, 1947 the daughter of Delbert L. and Lola B. (Burd) Saam. She graduated from Byron High School in 1965.

BYRON – Joyce Elaine Bennett, age 74, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2021 at the Generations at Neighbor’s Rehabilitation Center in Byron. She was born Sept. 9, 1947 the daughter of Delbert L.  and Lola B. (Burd) Saam. She graduated from Byron High School in 1965. 

Joyce married Larry Bennett on Feb. 24, 1968 in Byron. She worked as a CNA nurse’s aide, was a unit clerk for Swedish American Hospital, and also did home health care. Joyce was a member of the Elim Reformed Church near Kings, where she previously served as session clerk and was a member of the Ladies Aide of the church. She was a girl scout leader for her 3 daughters, loved to attend tractor shows with her husband Larry, and enjoyed attending all her grandchildren’s events. Her hobbies included cake decorating, reading, crocheting, and cross stitching. She loved to be with people especially her family. 

Joyce was predeceased by her parents Delbert and Lola Saam, her husband Larry, son Richard, brother’s Gordon Saam, Ronald Saam, and parents-in-law Paul and Mildred Bennett. 

She is survived by her 3 daughters; Susan “Sue” (James) Calveard of Venus, Texas, Patricia “Patty” (Dr. Jason) Crane of Palatine, and Sandra “Sandy” (Ryan) Wild of Westfield, Ind; 4 grandchildren; Olivia and Anton Crane, Grace and Bailey Wild, 3 brothers; William (Pamela) Saam of Rockford, David (Darlene) Saam of Chana, Dennis (Karis) Saam of Alaska, and sister Vicki Grubbs of Mesquite, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. 

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021 at the Elim Reformed Church, 140 S. Church Rd, Kings, with the Rev. Marv Jacobs officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service from 10-11 a.m. at the church.  Burial will take place at the Byron Cemetery following the memorial service. A memorial fund is established for the Michael J.
