STEWARD — Marie E. Durin, 88, of Steward, passed away on Dec. 19, 2018, at Lincolnshire Place, Loves Park. Marie was born on Aug. 14, 1930 in West Brooklyn. She married her high school sweetheart, Stanley Durin, on April 21, 1951.
Marie was a wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed. She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her family, especially making pies. She spent her “empty nest” years spinning, weaving, knitting and quilting. She especially liked sitting on the front porch of the family farmhouse chatting with family. She also enjoyed root beer floats with her red-hat friends.
Marie is survived by her five children, Frederick Durin of Steward, Julia (Dennis) Cavanna of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, Steven (Diane) Durin of Steward, Leah (David) Schulz of Itasca, and Emily (Rick) Goken of Lee; her sister, Marilyn (Emmett) Barnes of Malta; as well as nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two nieces.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Esther Krahenbuhl; her husband, Stanley Durin; and a grandson, Nicholas Goken.
A graveside service is being held on Saturday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. in the afternoon at Twin Grove Cemetery in Steward with Reverend Ken Foster officiating.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established.
