ROCHELLE — Maxine Prather, 85, died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019 at her home with her family at her side. She was born on Aug. 28, 1933 in Vanndale, Arkansas, the daughter of Clayton and Eulah (Miller) Poindexter.  She is one of 11 children. Maxine married William “Bill” L. Prather on Feb. 2, 1952 in Cherry Valley, Arkansas.  She worked at Rochelle Community Hospital in housekeeping for 18 years.
She is preceded in death by her parents and several sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Prather, of Rochelle; two sons, William “Ed” (Lisette) Prather of North Aurora, and Rick (Connie) Prather of Rochelle; six grandchildren, Amy (Dan) Askeland, Rikki Prather, Kelsey (Kyle) Ford, Chad Prather, Brad Prather (fiancè Jamie Christian), and Caitlin (Josh) Reese; three great-grandchildren, Zachary and Nate Askeland and Aiden Ford; one sister, Lois Garver of Seattle, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at the Unger Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St., Rochelle, with Pastor Ken Holt.  Visitation will also be on Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to the funeral.  Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.
