ROCHELLE — Roger Keith Thompson, 87, of Rochelle, went to be with the Lord April 13, 2018 in Franklin Grove.  Roger was born July 11, 1930 in Triumph, the son of Mahlon and Florence (Stein) Thompson.
Roger served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On May 7, 1977 Roger married Arline Payne. Roger worked as an agent for Burlington Northern railroad for 37 years, retiring at age 61. His hobbies and interests were many and included horseshoes, bowling, fishing and enjoying time with his family.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Wesley and Norman (Charmayne) Thompson.
He is survived by wife, Arline Thompson, of Franklin Grove; children, Alan (Sue) Thompson of Rockford and Dr. Karen Thompson (Brian O’Donnell) of Orlando, Fla., Rick (Carla) Meador of Santan Valley, Ariz., Jim (Cecilia) Meador of Rochelle, Phillip (Barbara) Meador of Rochelle, Carolyn (Steve) Koontz of Livingston, Mont., and Shirley (David) Crenshaw of Coeur D’Alene, Idaho; brother, Darrell (Judie) Thompson of Green Valley, Ariz.; brother-in-law, Clyde (Doris) Payne of Las Vegas; sister-in-laws, Ann Thompson Brignon of Serena, Velma Smith of Rochelle and Maxine Brown of Collinsville; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Roger enjoyed a full and blessed life and will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Visitation will be 2 – 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 22 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 23 at the 1st Baptist Church, 810 Woolf Ct., Rochelle, with pastor Doug Cowan officiating.  Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery with military honors provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard and the U.S. Air Force. 
Memorials may be made to the Hub City Senior Center, First Baptist Church of Rochelle and/or VFW Post 3878.
