AURORA — William T. Gaston, 89, of Aurora, passed away at his home Saturday, June 24, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Jan. 17, 1928, son of John and Phoebe (Meador) Gaston.
Bill served in the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was employed by Barber-Greene as a Machine Maintenance Technician for many years. He enjoyed gardening, but his passion was woodworking; from building a pencil holder to a desk, and even the home that he lived in, he was quite the craftsman.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Roberta; and two brothers, Lowell (the late Lorraine), and Dovel (the late Mary).
He is survived by one son, John; four daughters, Margaret (John) Brady, Marilyn (Harlan) Spiroff, Judy Gaston, and Ann (Gaylen) Simpson; nine grandchildren, William (Libby) Gaston, Jeremy (Robin) Gaston, Joshua (Michelle) Gaston, Andrew Gaston, Brandon Gaston, Sean Brady, Emily Simpson, Clair (Travis) Johnson, and Tyler Simpson; one sister, Lucille (Benny) Loyd; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.
Family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, June 28 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 29 at 11 a.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home. Interment will take place Friday June 30, at Lighthouse Cemetery, in Oregon.
