DIXON — State Representatives Tom Demmer (R-Dixon) issued the following statement Friday following Governor Bruce Rauner’s signing on House Bill 4847, a bill sponsored by Rep. Demmer to clarify and expand the types of cases Adult Protective Services may investigate:
“This legislation clarifies that Adult Protective Services may investigate claims of abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation of adults living in a DHS-funded facility even when the abuse happens outside the facility, or when the alleged abuser is not an employee of the facility,” said Rep. Tom Demmer. “This bill helps protect seniors and closes a jurisdictional loophole.”
The legislation was supported by the Illinois Department on Aging, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Department of Human Services, and many other senior advocacy organizations.
