ESMOND — Nancy Coe Hopkins, 75, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center in Rockford.
Nancy was born Jan. 22, 1944 in Rochelle, the daughter of William and Vera (Strang) McQueen. She married Stephen Major Hopkins on May 23, 1964 in Esmond. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 2014.
Nancy served as Postmaster of the Esmond Post Office for 30 years. She was a faithful member of the Esmond United Methodist Church. Nancy enjoyed scrapbooking, crafting, and spending time with her family.
Nancy is survived by her children, Teresa (Todd) Smith of Rochelle, James (Solveig) Hopkins of Lindenwood, and Jennifer (Jeff) Tompkins of Monroe Center; 10 grandchildren, Kyle (Nicole) Hansen, Mary (Michael) Peloza, Emily (Josh) Carow, Cole (Meghan Dickson) Smith, Doug (Emily) Hopkins, Dylan Hopkins, Mark Hopkins, Luke Tompkins, Sydney Tompkins and Allison Tompkins; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Hansen, Thorin Peloza, and Elaina Hopkins; a sister, Ruth (Don) Patterson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Steve; a sister, Carolyn Miller; and a brother, Robert McQueen.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, July 22 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. Sixth St. in Rochelle.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23 at the Esmond United Methodist Church in Esmond with Pastor Dave Rogula officiating. Interment will follow in Greenview Cemetery in Esmond.
Memorials in Nancy’s name may be directed to Serenity Hospice and Home or the Ronald McDonald House.
