ROCHELLE — As the Rochelle Masonic Lodge secretary, Bud Norcross is an integral part of the organization, handling a variety of tasks and planning charitable events.
Last week the Rochelle resident received the “Secretary of the Year” award from the Illinois Masonic Secretaries Association. Norcross was chosen from the 460 lodge secretaries in the State.
The news came as a surprise a few weeks ago. Norcross has been the Secretary of Rochelle Horicon Lodge No. 244 since 2013.
Lyle Headon, Past Master of Creston Masonic Lodge No. 320, accompanied Norcross to Springfield where the Grand Lodge of Illinois, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons (A.F. & A.M) held its annual meeting.
“It humbles you a little bit to know they think enough of what you do and how you do it and to choose you from so many secretaries,” Norcross said. “I do enjoy what I’m doing and it helps out the Lodge. That’s really what this is all about.”
