ROCHELLE — Ocie Pearl Sieberns, 87, passed away peacefully Monday, March 23, 2020 at Prairie Crossing Living and Rehab in Shabbona. Ocie was born on July 11, 1932 to Okey L. and Sara A. (Stevens) Higginbotham in Marion County, West Virginia. She married George E. Sieberns on Feb. 3, 1953 in Mannington, West Virginia. He preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 2002.
Ocie worked for the Eaton Corporation, retiring in 2001. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts.
Ocie is survived by her three children, Larry Sieberns and Gary Sieberns, both of Rochelle, and JoAnna (Rodney) McKiness of DeKalb; son-in-law, Kevin Merlo of Joliet; two brothers, Ralph and Joe Higginbotham; sister, and Katherine Dingus; and grandson, Ryan McKiness.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ocie was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Merlo; three sisters, Marie Monroe, Icie Efaw and Jessie; and brother, Okey Higginbotham.
A private funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 26 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home in Rochelle. Burial will follow the service at Lawnridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Ocie’s memory to First Baptist Church.
