ROCHELLE — Rochelle mayor Chet Olson is pointing to the city’s industrial expansion, job growth, technological advances and his ability to work with state and national officials to secure grant funding as top reasons why he should be re-elected for a fifth term on April 2.

During his 16-year tenure, Olson said the community has grown in a positive way and he has led efforts to improve the city’s infrastructure and put it on the map as one of the most progressive and aggressive small communities in the state.

“Many of our aging sidewalks have been replaced, flooding problems have been greatly reduced and our equalized assessed valuation has increased by $300 million since I took office,” Olson said. “Rochelle has received over $40 million in grants and we have seen the creation of more than 2,200 jobs during my tenure.”

Olson is a present member of the Illinois Municipal League, and he has also served as president of the Northern Illinois Mayor’s Association and was a member on the Illinois Governor’s Broadband Deployment Council.

“The mayor’s job in Rochelle may be considered part-time, but I am a full-time mayor who has worked hard with city council and staff to improve the quality of life for citizens in the “Hub City,” he added. “We have made a lot of big strides in the past 16 years. As a lifelong resident my goal has always been about the betterment of Rochelle. We have more work to do and I ask voters to support me in this next election.”
