ROCHELLE – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that weather permitting, construction work on IL Route 251 from Lakeview Drive to Veterans Parkway in Rochelle will begin on Tuesday, July 9.
Martin & Co. Excavating will be starting the $390,000 project to patch and resurface the roadway.
Daily lane closures with flaggers will be utilized. Drivers should be prepared to stop for flaggers who will be directing traffic through the work areas. The project is expected to be completed within six weeks.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
