ROCHELLE — Robert Justin Aubry, 77, passed away on Sunday, August 11, 2024 in Rockford, IL at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center surrounded by his family.  Bob was born on June 30, 1947, the son of Justin and Rita Mae (Roux) Aubry in Ottawa, IL.  On August 9, 1969, he married Janice Kay Mattioda at Immaculate Conception Church in Spring Valley, IL.

Bob was a teacher in Stillman Valley, IL and an administrator and football coach in Ashton, IL for several years before becoming the superintendent of Dixon Public Schools.  He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan.  His all time favorite “job” was being an usher at Wrigley Field.  Bob enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family as often as he could.  Watching his children and grandchildren play sports was always a highlight for him.

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jan Aubry of Rochelle; two children: Mandy Aubry of Bartlett, IL and Jon (Anne) Aubry of Whitefish Bay, WI; two grandchildren: Luke and Adeline Aubry; three brothers: Don (Kitty) Aubry of Jacksonville, IL, Jim (Sue) Aubry of Nixa, MO, and Mike Aubry of The Villages, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by three sisters: infant, Mary Jane Aubry, Marilyn Michael and Anne Aubry and niece, Leanne Michael.

The visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M., Thursday, August 15, 2024 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  The funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 16, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 236 Kelley Drive, Rochelle with Father Rich Rosinski officiating.  Cremation care will be provided after the services.  Burial is at St. Patrick Cemetery in Rochelle at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope of Ogle County or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
