ROCHELLE — The Rochelle Township High School Speech Team competed in the IHSA Regional at DeKalb on Saturday, Feb. 3. As a team Rochelle placed second behind DeKalb.
Individual moving on to Sectionals include:
Karma Lidren, Regional Champion, Original Comedy; Z Brizuela, Regional Champion, Original Oratory; Aiden Ramsey, Regional Champion, Radio Speaking; Vi Hull, Second Place, Prose Reading; Karma Lidren, Second Place, Humorous Interpretation; Z Brizuela, Third Place, Poetry Reading; Jessica Nguyen, Third Place, Informative Speaking; Jessica Nguyen, Third Place, Oratorical Declamation; Bobbie Henning, Third Place, Special Occasion Speaking; Brooklyn Hull/Vi Hull, Fourth Place, Dramatic Duet Acting; and Jimmy Chavez Fourth Place, Extemporaneous Speaking.
A performance by the team placed second and will also move on. The cast includes: Isabella Biggs, Pigeon Burgholzer, Lucas Smardo, Hailey Bunger, Alex Soto, Wyatt Brandt, Jenna Tesinsky, Derek Swartz, Lydia Von Haden and Connor Macklin.
Individuals who earned finalist honors but will not be advancing include: William Wise, Fifth Place, Impromptu Speaking; Storm Devers/Noah LeFevre, Fifth Place, Humorous Duet Acting.
The IHSA Sectional Speech meet will be held at RTHS on Feb. 10.
