Illinois State Senator Tim Bivins announced his decision not to run for another term in office of the 45th District on Monday.
Bivins has served as a senator in the 45th district since March 2008. The following is a statement released by Bivins on Monday morning.
“I am announcing today that I will not be seeking another term as State Senator of the 45th District. At the end of the current term I will have served approximately 11 years in the Illinois State Senate. While I plan on finishing out the current term I wanted to announce this decision now to allow enough time for anyone else who may be interested to announce and campaign.
While there are no underlying issues in this decision, simply put, its time to come home. I have no immediate plans but do plan to continue to work, be involved in my community and church. I wish to thank all those who have supported me and it has been an honor and a privilege serving the citizens of the 45th district.”
Bivins began serving in the Illinois State Senate in March 2008, serving the 45th District including parts of Ogle, Carroll, DeKalb, JoDaviess, Lee, Stephenson, Whiteside and Winnebago counties.
