OTTAWA — Ottawa’s Maura Condon threw all five innings while striking out seven batters against the Rochelle Lady Hub varsity softball team during Interstate 8 play on Wednesday.
Condon tossed a perfect game for the Pirates, holding the Lady Hubs without a hit or a walk as Ottawa handed Rochelle an 11-0 loss. The Lady Hubs (4-10, 0-6 Interstate 8) will return to action with a nonconference home game against the Oregon Hawks on Friday evening.
Ottawa tallied six runs on seven hits in the bottom of the first inning. Hailey Larsen and Maura Condon slapped back-to-back RBI singles to put the Pirates ahead 2-0 before Piper Lewis and Reese Purcell followed with RBI singles of their own. Addy Miller’s two-run single made it 6-0.
Condon’s RBI groundout in the bottom of the second inning gave the Pirates a 7-0 advantage. Ottawa sealed its win with four runs on three hits and one walk in the bottom of the fourth inning. The frame included a two-run single from Lewis and an RBI single from Zulee Morehead.
