ROCKFORD — The Rock River Valley Blood Center is in need of donations, as high usage, slower donor traffic and a mechanical issue one on of their mobile vehicles have left blood supplies at dangerously low levels.
“The Rock River Valley Blood Center (RRVC) has less than a 1 day supply of types A negative and B negative blood and less than a 2 day supply of type O negative. Several shootings and car accidents have resulted in the need for more blood. Also, mechanical issues on one of the blood center’s mobile collection vehicles has caused the cancellation of three recent blood drives resulting in nearly 100 lost units this week,” stated RRVBC spokesperson Jennifer Bowman.
Rochelle Community Hospital will be hosting a blood drive on Thursday, May 24 from noon to 6 p.m.
Call Michele LePage at 815-561-3110 to reserve a time to donate. Walk-ins are also welcome; however, priority will be given to scheduled donations.
