City tree festival to benefit Rochelle Rescue Mission

Posted

ROCHELLE — The City of Rochelle has announced plans for the 13th Annual Christmas Tree Festival, with all proceeds raised going to benefit the Rochelle Rescue Mission.
The Rochelle Rescue Mission provides temporary shelter and direction until more permanent solutions may be found. The shelter provides temporary housing assistance for up to 20 people at a time with four separate sleeping rooms – a men’s room, a women’s room and two rooms for families. The facility also has common dining and living areas for guests.

The Rochelle Rescue Mission assists with finding employment and a permanent place to live and relies on volunteer assistance for much of the operation.
To help support the local cause, all local businesses, organizations and individuals are invited to donate decorated table-top trees, wreaths, swags and gift baskets. Visitors to city hall bid on items throughout the week leading up to the city’s downtown Christmas walk, set for Friday, Dec. 7. Bidding ends on Friday at 6:30 p.m. during the Christmas Walk festivities.
Donations of items may be made for a gift basket, as volunteers will assemble baskets. All deliveries must be made by Monday, Dec. 3.
