ROCHELLE — The Hubs sophomore baseball team had a shot at taking down the Kaneland Knights on Thrusday, but a disastrous fifth inning would dash any hopes of Rochelle nailing down a conference victory.
Leading 4-2 entering the top of the fifth inning, Kaneland blitzed the Hubs for 15 runs and shut the purple and white down in the bottom half of the inning to win by a final score of 19-2. Zach Bernardin went 1-for-3 with two RBIs for Rochelle, while Anthony Hueramo went 2-for-2 with a single and a double.
Cody Johnson started on the mound for the Hubs, firing four innings and striking out eight Knights while walking three and surrendering four hits. The sophomores fall to 7-4-1 on the season with the loss.
