Man found guilty of assault, abuse of a child in county

OREGON –Daryn A. Jacobs, 50, formerly of Forreston, was found guilty by an Ogle County Jury of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, Ogle County State’s Attorney Eric Morrow announced.
Circuit Judge John B. Roe presided over the jury trial which spanned four days. Jacobs will return to court to be sentenced on Jan. 16, 2019. Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child is a Class X Felony for which a sentence of probation is not available and Jacobs must be sentenced to 6-60 years in prison.
Due to the nature of the charge, Jacobs must serve 85 percent of the sentence in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections. Upon his release, he will be subject to a term of mandatory supervised release of three years to natural life and must register as a sex offender for his lifetime. Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse is a Class 2 Felony with a sentencing range of 3-7 years in prison.
