ROCHELLE — Park superintendent Don Elliott gave Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District commissioners a quote for cement work at the Rochelle Little League complex and May School diamonds, and it was approved 5-0 by the board at Monday night’s regular monthly meeting.
“In an ongoing effort to improve the fields, we got quotes for putting in concrete pathways leading from the parking lot to the concession stand, as well as cement pads for new bleachers and player benches,” Elliott said. “Regional Ready Mix gave us a very good price on cement and Bruns Construction came in with the low bid for labor.”
Elliott said the pathways will run east-west along the north side of the concession stand and also north-south past the west side of the Major League field.
“A lot of people walk in those areas and in the parking lot during games and it’s busy and not very level, so this will make it much more accessible and safe for everyone,” he added.
In addition, four cement pads will be poured at the complex for new bleachers and pads will also be poured at the May School diamonds for player benches. The board voted 5-0 to approve the projects at a base cost of $17,295 and not to exceed $24,000.
Playground inspections
In an effort to improve the inspection process of playground equipment, park district commissioners unanimously approved the purchase of audit software during Monday night’s meeting.
