Seven candidates running for Rochelle council, three vying for mayor

ROCHELLE — Monday was the last day for candidates to file petitions to run for Rochelle City Council and two more people threw their hats in the ring.

Ann-Marie Green and Ryan Carson both filed their petitions Monday for Rochelle City Council.

A total of seven are in the race for the three council seats up for election. The field includes incumbents Bil Hayes, Tom McDermott and Don Burke and challengers John Gruben, Jeffrey Phillips, Green and Carson. 

Three candidates are running for mayor, including incumbent Chet Olson, current councilman John Bearrows and Cassondra Losoya. 

A lottery for ballot position is scheduled for Dec. 3 at 8 a.m. The Consolidated General Election will be held on April 2, 2019.
