ROCHELLE — There’s still time to purchase a raffle ticket for the chance at winning a brand new car while helping to support the Rochelle Township High School Marching Band.

At last count, there were just over a dozen tickets still available.

Sawicki Motor Company has partnered with RTHS to offer the winner their choice of a 2018 Chevy Cruze or a 2018 Chevy Trax — the winner will be announced during halftime at the Homecoming game on Sept. 28.

The RTHS band has a unique opportunity to participate in the 2018 “Parade of Heroes — A Monumental Salute to the Veterans,” which will honor those who served during the three pivotal periods in the history of the U.S.:  World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam War. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of WWII.

The community and several local businesses and organizations have participated in the car raffle, helped with sponsorships and donated funds that will offset the cost of the band’s trip.

Sheryl Casey, RTHS Band Booster member, said as of Sunday there were a few tickets left at Holcomb Bank, Central Bank and First State Bank.

“Thank you to the community for embracing such a big fundraiser to support the music program,” said Sheryl Casey, RTHS Music Booster Club member.

Yard signs and aluminum signs are available with “Our Town, Our Band,” as well as band T-shirts. Both are $20.

Raffle tickets are $50, while supplies last.

Alumni performance

Ron Duval, RTHS Band Director, said there is still time to sign up for the alumni band pregame performance during the Homecoming game.

Anyone who has ever played in the RTHS band is welcome to participate in the performance. T-shirts and a light supper catered by Headon’s are available for purchase at $10, or $20 for both.
