Rochelle Township High School dismissed for the day after a serious medical emergency involving a student Thursday morning, a letter sent to parents by Superintendent Jason Harper said.

On Jan. 27 at 12:38 a.m. Francisco Felipe, 42, of Rochelle was arrested for no valid driver’s license. He was released on a notice to appear with a March 1 Rochelle court date.

On Jan. 26 at 7:30 a.m. deputies were dispatched to the area of South Center Road and East Illinois Route 38 for the report of a school bus on fire.  The bus had only three occupants at the time of the fire. All occupants of the bus were evacuated prior to deputies’ arrival and there were no injuries. The school bus belonged to Illinois Central School Bus company that is contracted through the Rochelle School Districts. After a brief investigation, it was learned that a malfunction caused a small fire in the undercarriage of the bus where it was contained. Ogle County Sheriff's deputies were assisted by Rochelle and Flagg Center Fire.
