ROCHELLE — On Monday, members of the From the Heart organization’s board presented a $1,000 check to its Jan. 1, 2024 cash calendar winner, Kishwaukee College President Dr. Laurie Borowicz.

There is a winner for each day of the calendar. Larger amounts are seen on holidays. Winners are drawn randomly and entrants can win more than once. From the Heart raises money from the calendars and its annual gala to donate to eight area nonprofits: the Rochelle Area Community Foundation, HOPE of Ogle County, Rochelle Christian Food Pantry, Pegasus Special Riders, Hub City Senior Center, Shining Star Children’s Advocacy Center, CASA and FOCUS House.

"It's pretty incredible, what this does for the community," Borowicz said. "The fact that these organizations support each other, it's really a great reflection on the Rochelle community."

Calendar sales for 2024 reached 3,000. The 16th annual From the Heart Gala & Auction will be held Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. at the hangar at Flight Deck Bar & Grill in Rochelle.
