SYCAMORE — Albert E. (Buddy) Blaser, 79, of Sycamore died Tuesday, March 22 at the AccentCare Hospice Center in Naperville.
He was born on Oct. 13, 1942 in Chicago to Frederick and Gertrude (Carlson) Blaser. He married Karen Hipps on May 25, 1984 in Nashua, Iowa.
Buddy was a veteran of the US Navy serving on the USS Hancock in the Vietnam War for four years. He then was at the US Naval Base in Glenview until his military retirement in 1990.
For his enjoyment, he was a Ham Radio operator, a member of the USS Hancock Society and was active with various railroad societies, including the Milwaukee Road, Northern Pacific and the Great Northern.
Survivors include his wife, Karen; daughter, Tammy Judkins; grandchildren, Michael (Valerie) Judkins, Crystal Judkins, Catherine (Jeff) Norris and Christopher (Nicole) Judkins; great grandchildren, Devon and Taylor Judkins, Phoenix, Alina, Amayah and Phineas Dexheimer, Aubree Judkins, Phoenix Chasteen, Caleigh and Milo Norris and Luke Judkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathleen Hipps; great grandson, Peyton Dexheimer and father and mother-in-law, Erwin and Berneice Mittan.
His visitation will be on Tuesday, March 29 from 10-11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 160 Johnson St., Sycamore. His funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Daniel Swinson officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore with full military rites.
A luncheon will then be served back at the Sycamore United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made the Sycamore United Methodist Church in care of the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.
