Alice Marie Drew, 98, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 29, 2021 at Manor Court in Rochelle. Alice was born on Feb. 9, 1923 to George W. and Minnie E. (Henert) Smith in Ashton. On Sept. 6, 1942, she married Raymond Edward Drew in Rochelle. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1971.

ROCHELLE — Alice Marie Drew, 98, passed away peacefully Friday, Oct. 29, 2021 at Manor Court in Rochelle.  Alice was born on Feb.  9, 1923 to George W. and Minnie E. (Henert) Smith in Ashton.  On Sept. 6, 1942, she married Raymond Edward Drew in Rochelle.  He preceded her in death on April 20, 1971.

Alice was very active over the years.  She enjoyed a variety of different crafts, sang at Gospel singings, revivals and at nursing homes for 11 ½ years, and was the president of the Young at Heart Club for two years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rochelle, sang in the church choir, played piano for church services for 14 years, started the Morning Circle Leader in September of 1989 to May of 1991 and was president of the Monroe Guild for two years.

In addition to her husband and parents, Alice is preceded in death by her son, John Drew; siblings: Amelia Hall, Adam and William Smith; great granddaughter, Taylor Probasco and son-in-law, Ben Lauf.

Alice is survived by four children: Melvin Drew of Farmington, Missouri, Connie Lauf of Ypsilanti, Michigan,  Larry (Deb) Drew, and Carol (Don) Elliott of both of Rochelle; nine grandchildren: Jennifer Drew, Jeff Drew, Tina Dowling, Bill Marks, Mike Drew, Sherri Drew, Teresa Probasco, Kyle Elliott and Kassie Elliott and 11 great grandchildren: Dillon, Eoin, Niah Dowling, Tyler Marks, Allison Valenzuela, Zephan, Holli and Lenna Drew, Logan Ayala, Reese Probasco and Beckett Freeman.

The visitation will be from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle.  The funeral will follow at 1:30 with Pastor Doug Forsberg officiating.  Burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle.  A memorial will be established at a later date.  Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
