ROCHELLE – Andrew “Andy” Jackson Smith, 32, passed away Saturday, Aug. 28 in a motorcycle accident outside of Rochelle. Andy was born on Aug. 15, 1989, to Kenneth G. Smith and Claudia T. Sanchez in Rochelle. He worked as a plumber and HVAC technician for Pemberton Heating and Cooling.
Andy was very active and athletic. He enjoyed working out, mixed martial arts and arm wrestling. He was a big fan of the Miami Dolphins and the Lakers. Riding motorcycles, being in the outdoors and grilling out, especially steaks, were other favorites of his. But more than anything, Andy loved spending time with his family and friends.
Andy is survived by his fiancé, Christina Evans of Creston; two daughters: Karlee and Sadie Smith; his parents: Ken (Patricia Anders) Smith of Rochelle and Claudia Sanchez of Rockford; grandmothers: Charlene Smith of Rochelle and Maria Martinez of Augusta, Georgia; brother, David Hahn of Davis Junction; sister, Anita Smith of Rochelle and nieces and nephews: Davina Hahn, Adrian, Allie and Abel Chavez.
The visitation will be from 10-11:45 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 2 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle. The funeral will be at noon Thursday with Pastor Kevin Spears officiating.
The burial will follow the service at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Dixon. A memorial will be established at a later date. Visit www.ungerhorner.com to sign the online guest book.
