ROCHELLE — Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District commissioners approved up to $18,000 in funding for bleachers inside the aquatic center at the REC and amended an ordinance in preparation for the adult charity kickball event at VFW Park scheduled for Saturday, May 8. Board commissioners made the actions during their monthly meeting at City Hall on Monday.
The amended ordinance will allow for the sale and consumption of alcohol on park district property. The adult charity kickball event will be held in collaboration with the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce, with the tournament benefiting both the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District ENGAGE Program and the Rochelle Chamber of Commerce Scholarship Program.
Park officials are also planning to sell the office and storage space located at 735 N. 2nd St. in Rochelle. The less-than-one-acre property will require court approval, advertising and bid approval before sale. Deed restrictions will also be placed on the property due to its proximity to the Rochelle Little League complex. The REC will serve as the park district’s home office.
