MORRIS — Junior Cayden Moore scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Rochelle Hub varsity basketball team during Friday's Interstate 8 Conference game against Morris. Freshman Brody Bruns added 14 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double as the Hubs topped the Redskins 73-56 to split the conference home-and-home series.
Senior Jack Tracey finished with eight points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals for the Hubs (8-13, 2-5 Interstate 8), who outscored Morris 46-25 during the first and third quarters to seal the conference victory. Senior Eli Luxton recorded eight points, six rebounds and two steals, while junior Elijah Harley added nine points and four rebounds.
Sophomore Van Gerber contributed nine points for the Hubs on Friday. Rochelle dominated most of the statistical categories, outpacing the Redskins 23-7 in second chance points and 12-8 in transition points. The Hubs also outrebounded Morris 23-8 on the offensive end and 19-14 on the defensive end. Rochelle went 15-for-19 from the free-throw line in the win.
