The Rochelle Hub varsity bowling team finished eighth out of 19 teams in the annual Dixon Toughman Tournament at Plum Hollow Lanes on Friday afternoon. Rochelle (9-6, 5-3 Interstate 8) scored 2,755 in the three-game opening round and ended the tournament with a final total of 6,335 after 18 baker games.

DIXON — The Rochelle Hub varsity bowling team finished eighth out of 19 teams in the annual Dixon Toughman Tournament at Plum Hollow Lanes on Friday afternoon. Rochelle (9-6, 5-3 Interstate 8) scored 2,755 in the three-game opening round and ended the tournament with a final total of 6,335 after 18 baker games.

Sophomore Andrew Powell finished sixth in the individual high series rankings for the event, shooting a team-leading 662 series with scores of 245, 201 and 216. Senior Sam Tracey added a 576 series with a high score of 212, while sophomore Levi Waddle followed with a 568 series and a high score of 207. Junior Logan Frye recorded a 531 series and a high score of 207.

Rochelle went 10-8 over the 18 rounds of baker bowling to end the tournament in eighth place. The Hubs defeated teams from Dakota, Dixon, Oregon, Abington, Moline, Harlem, Rock Island and South Beloit in the baker rounds. Rochelle totaled 3,580 in the baker portion of the event. The Hubs will return home on Thursday, Jan. 4 for a home match against Geneseo at T-Byrd Lanes. The match will be Rochelle’s Senior Night.
