The Rochelle Hub varsity soccer team won its second straight Interstate 8 Conference matchup on Wednesday, defeating Sandwich 6-1 and improving to 3-2 on the season. Senior Josue Orozco and sophomore Eli Luxton each scored two goals for the Hubs, while sophomore Diego Salazar and junior Nolan Fonfara each added one goal. Junior Jace Whitehead finished with two assists.

SANDWICH — The Rochelle Hub varsity soccer team won its second straight Interstate 8 Conference matchup on Wednesday, defeating Sandwich 6-1 and improving to 3-2 on the season. Senior Josue Orozco and sophomore Eli Luxton each scored two goals for the Hubs, while sophomore Diego Salazar and junior Nolan Fonfara each added one goal. Junior Jace Whitehead finished with two assists.
Junior Jarret Milan recorded 13 saves for the Hubs. Rochelle took the lead in the fourth minute on a goal from Salazar and an assist from Whitehead. Luxton cashed Whitehead's second assist of the match in for a goal during the 12th minute before Orozco followed with an unassisted goal in the 13th minute. Rochelle led 4-0 at halftime after Luxton's goal in the 35th minute.
The Hubs took a 5-0 lead when Orozco assisted Fonfara's goal in the 61st minute. Sandwich broke its scoreless streak during the 68th minute, but the Hubs answered with Orozco's second goal of the match, which occurred during the 71st minute. Rochelle will face Sterling on the road Thursday.
