MONROE — Carol Jean Tourdot, 83, of Monroe passed away on Wednesday, May 5 at The Monroe Clinic Hospital. She was born the daughter of Roy and Elizabeth (Tipple) Cross on May 20, 1937 in Madison. She was a graduate of Wisconsin High School in Madison and furthered her education at Hamlin University in Minnesota. Carol was united in marriage to Robert O. Tourdot on Oct. 26, 1957 in Madison; he preceded her in death in 2007.
Carol dedicated 42 years to Chalet Cheese Factory, having just retired in April 2020. She was a longtime member of Monroe United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and playing hand-bells. In her younger years she was an avid softball player and pitcher in the Waunakee area. Carol was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed watching her “crush” Roger Federer. She also loved camping, bowling, collecting M&M memorabilia and decorating for Christmas with many lights, a tradition she took over when Robert passed away.
Carol is survived by her children, Roger (Betty) Tourdot of Rochelle, Ron (Molly) Tourdot, Renee (Frank) Pivonka both of Monroe, and Jeanne (Gary) Scace of Monticello; 11 grandchildren, BreAnne (Zac) Halloran, Joey (Melissa) Tourdot, Matt (Allison) Tourdot, Brittany (Jake) Delano, Becky (Josh) Schacht, Cody (Suzanne Chacon) Tourdot, Nigel (fiancé, Destany Calma-Birling), Brock (Beth) Blum, Chris (Mary) Blum, Derek Blum, and Dallas Tourdot; and 12 great-grandchildren, Maggie, Myla, Lylah, Gunner, Irelin, Tommy, Bobby, Hunter, Ryley, Landon, and Laylah; as well as many extended relatives and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, and sister, Mary Ellen (Joe) Meuer.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11 at Shriner Hager Gohlke Funeral Home with Pastor Don Kim officiating. Burial will take place following service in Benkert-Bushnell Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 10 from 4-7 p.m. Continued visitation will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to the family at: shriner111.com.
