ROCHELLE — Hundreds of people celebrated at the annual Cinco de Mayo festival in downtown Rochelle on Saturday. The event included live music, entertainment and plenty of food from area vendors.
The event also included the Chihuahua parade and races. Four Chihuahuas raced, with first place going to Paco, the returning crowd favorite. Paco also won the best-dressed portion, fancied in his Mariachi outfit. Other entrants included Bella, and Sophia dressed in her best polka dot dress and hat.
New this year at the festival was the mechanical riding bull along with “Galli Lucha Libre,” a Mexican-style professional wresting act.
