City cancels Hooley event

Posted

ROCHELLE — Officials in Rochelle have announced festivities for Saturday have been cancelled.

"Following much consideration by the Irish Hooley planning team, City of Rochelle staff and the Rochelle Area Chamber of Commerce, the Lucky Hub Dash, St. Paddy's Day Parade and Irish Hooley have been cancelled," Jenny Thompson, director of marketing, public relations and tourism for the City of Rochelle said. "This afternoon, the Ogle County Health Department, in conjunction with the other northern Illinois health departments, recommended cancellation of events hosting more than 25 people. Although this decision was a difficult one, the health and safety of our residents and visitors is our top priority. We appreciate your understanding."

At this time it has not been determined if the events will be held at a later date.
